It is a requirement that all staff members involved in the sale, supply or service of liquor in NSW licensed venues undertake and successfully complete an approved Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) course. Staff members with a RSA Competency Card are required to have their card in their possession at all times while working. However, RSA cardholders can now use free digital licences issued through the Service NSW App. Their competency cards can be accessed via the Service NSW App with a smart phone or tablet. Digital licences offer additional convenience by providing live updates, information regarding licence renewal and details of any checks that have been conducted by compliance officers. The Service NSW App also solves the problem of staff forgetting to bring their competency cards to work as required.
