Industry Training

To sell or supply alcohol in NSW an individual must complete the NSW Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) training course provided by an approved course provider. Responsible Conduct of Gambling (RCG) training is also mandatory if your work duties involve gaming machines. Refresher training is mandatory every five years to renew your NSW competency card.

Liquor and Gaming NSW have also introduced a tiered Industry Training Framework. Following the successful completion of RSA training most people who work in senior roles in licensed venues in NSW are also then required to undertake additional training. The specialised training is as follows:-

  • Licensee training: required to be completed by most licensees, approved managers and club secretaries.

  • Advanced licensee training: this is an additional requirement for people in senior roles in licensed premises which operate in a higher risk environment, for example, businesses that regularly trade after midnight.
