Pop-Up Bars and Events

On 24 January 2019 Liquor & Gaming NSW released a statement regarding changes to the process of acquiring and operating Pop-Up Bars and Events in NSW.  The changes will commence on 1 March 2019. These changes are part of the ‘Activate Sydney@Night’ program which offers $500,000 in funding for seven Sydney precincts, which is a portion of the NSW Government’s new $1.5 million package of initiatives aimed at stimulating the night-time economy.

The NSW Government anticipates that these enhanced guidelines will seek to “diversify the social cultural and business offerings in the night-time economy”, catering for pop-up bars that serve 100 patrons or less and pop-up events with up to 300 patrons (with specific provisions on the serving of alcohol ancillary to other products i.e. food) within seven Sydney precincts which operate over a maximum period of six weeks. This initiative will be subject to a 12-month trial period and will require engagement from the NSW Police in the notification period of the Application.

Back Schwartz Vaughan is dedicated to keeping up-to-date with new provisions and will be a leader in future Applications for pop-up bars and events. The completed fact sheet for changes to Pop-Up Bar guidelines will be available for public viewing on Friday 1 March 2019.
