Free RSA & RCG Training and Refresher Courses under NSW Government’s Smart and Skilled Program

The NSW Government has announced funding for 5,000 free RSA courses for new entrants and is encouraging former hospitality staff to return to the sector by offering free refresher courses to those with an RSA competency card that has expired since 1 February 2020 or will expire before 30 June 2022.

Under the Smart and Skilled program, 5,000 free RSA courses are available from 7 February 2022 and can be completed with a Liquor & Gaming NSW approved training provider authorised to deliver government-subsidised vocational education and training. To register, contact one of the Liquor & Gaming NSW Approved Training Providers as soon as possible.

The program also offers free refresher courses to RSA-only and RSA-RCG competency card holders until 30 June 2022. To access the free refresher courses, you must hold an RSA competency card that expires between 1 February 2020 and 30 June 2022. If you hold an RSA-only card, you can renew your RSA for free. If it also includes an RCG competency, you can renew both RSA and RCG for free. If you hold an RCG-only card, you will still benefit by paying the normal renewal fee until 30 June 2022, rather than undertaking the full RCG course at a higher cost.

These free refresher courses are available for eligible cardholders until 30 June 2022, and completion of your RSA/RCG refresher and assessment must occur by this date for this special arrangement to apply.
