We congratulate W Hotel on the recent approval of their full hotel licence application endorsed with an extended trading authorisation (ETA) and minors area authorisation (MAA). As one of Sydney’s most striking architectural developments, the W Hotel is a “6-star” venue complete with a two-storey rooftop bar, ballroom, and numerous meeting and function spaces alongside luxury accommodation. The Hotel required a highly versatile liquor licence, endorsed with numerous authorisations, to match its business model with the capability of its high-end facilities. BSV’s licensing team prepared a Category B Community Impact Statement to support the approval. The CIS articulated the application’s supporting factors and addressed the complexities of a full hotel licence endorsed with an ETA and an MAA to ultimately deliver a successful application. This approval positions the W Hotel at Darling Harbour as an international leader for entertainment and accommodation in a prime position in Darling Harbour.
